Prachtige finish van Gradus Kraus

De eerste twee ronden waren nipt voor de Bulgaarse opponent Nikolov die vooral in de tweede ronde uitblonk. In de derde ronde kreeg Gradus toch nog ternauwernood vat op hem en dat zorgde voor twee keer acht tellen door respectievelijk een stoothand directe en een voorhand hoek. Een mooie opsteker voor Boks TeamNL. Luna Beeloo komt morgen in actie tegen de Turkse Ozer en zal de spits afbijten bij de vrouwen.

¨Netherlands has new generation of boxers in their national team and Gradus Kraus is the best hope among them. His father was a star in the martial arts in the Netherlands and his son followed his pathway in boxing. The 20-year-old Dutch boxer moved up to the light heavyweight (80kg) following his youth events and proved developments in strength and tactical skills. Kraus faced with Bulgaria’s Kristiyan Nikolov in the last 16 and he knew that he could not reserve power for the later actions against such experienced opponent. Both boxers had attacking strategies in the first round and the judges had hard job to select the winner of their contest. Kraus had still the physical condition to do a great finish and won their preliminary bout by split decision.¨
